General information about Flaesheim
Location
The village Flaesheim is located at 51º 43′ 01″ north and 7º 13′ 59″ east and consists of the three districts Dorf, Stift and Westleven.It can be found at the southern border of the Münsterland directly beside the Haard and round about 4km south of the city Haltern am See.
The borders of Flaesheim are the river Lippe in the north, the village Ahsen in the east, the forest Haard in the south and the village Hamm-Bossendorf in the west. The Wesel-Dattel-Channel with its watergate is right between the river Lippe and the village.

Flaesheim has got 1,844 inhabitans (Dec. 2007) and is one of the eight districts of Haltern am See.Approach
You can reach Flaesheim using the motorway A 43 Wuppertal - Münster via the motorway intersection Marl-Nord, where you change to the motorway A 52. The A 52 from Düsseldorf via Essen ends close to Flaesheim.
History
Flaesheim was firstly named in a document from 800. Since 1166 Flaesheim has got some historical weight because of the foundation of a monastry for nuns of the praemonstratenser order.Since 1st January 1975 Flaesheim is a district of Haltern am See.
Emblem
Since 14th June 1939 Flaesheim has got the right to have its own emblem.
